Pattern Design 3 - Op Art


Pattern Design 2- Color Swath


Pattern Design 1 - Brush Design





1. Create a new document with 800*800 as px dimesions.
2. Select elliptical marquee tool and draw out a circle on the canvas while holdling shift and alt keys.
3. Fill the circle with black and open the blending options :
   a. Stroke (size -20, position -outside, blend mode -normal ,opacity -100, color-white)
4. In layers panel make opacity 50. Go to edit->define brush preset .
5. Create a new document with 1920*1080 as px dimensions .
6. Select the gradient tool and open the gradient editor . Click on the first stop and select a purple color. Click on right stop and slide it to middle (location -50). Choose a pink color. Click on the lower left stop and then on the right -it will copy the color to right. Drag the gradient on the canvas.
7. Select the brush tool and open the brush presets:
   Brush tip shape (size -250, roundness-100,hardness-100, spacing -153)
   Shape dynamics (size jitter-100, controls-pen pressure, minimum diameter-21, angle jitter -0,roundness
   jitter -79,minimum roundness-100)
   Scattering (scatter-0, count-4, count jitter-1)
   Color dynamics ( all fields-0)
   Transfer ( opacity jitter-100 , flow jitter-100) , smoothing.
8. Invert the foreground background color, change blend mode to linear dodge , opacity 20 and drag vertical strokes on the canvas.

Button Design 5 - Radio Button


Button Design 4 - Windows Media Player Button




1. Create a new document with 400*400 px dimension and 200 resolution.
2. Create a new layer and select ellipse tool and draw out a cirlcle on the canvas and fill it with dark blue color. Open the blending options - Stroke ( size -1, position -inside, opacity - 30, fill type - gradient in
reverse , style-linear , angle -90) .
3. Create a new layer and again draw a circle inside the original circle and fill it with a litte lighter blue color.
Create another circle inside the above circle overlapping top of the circle and fill it with white . Select direct selection tool and click on the canvas so that the angle points appear. Drag the anchor at the bottom to almost half of the circle inwards. and change the fill to 39 on the layer pallette.
4. Create a new layer and change the blend mode to color dodge . Select the brush tool and brush on the bottom of the circle .
5. Select the rounded rectangle tool and draw it on the canvas. Make a copy of the layer and reposition it.

Button Design 3 - Glass Button



1. Create a new background with 640*480 as px dimesions.
2. Create a new layer and change foreground color as blood red and background color as dark red.
3. Select rounded rectangle tool and select fill pixel and 20 px radius and draw it on the canvas.
4. Select the layer while holding the ctrl key  and select gradient tool (foreground to background) and drag it on the canvas.
5. Create a new layer. Go to select->modify->contract and contract it by 2 px.
6. Switch the foreground background colors to default and invert them . Select foreground to transparent gradient tool and grag it from top to middle of the button. Drag the selection down using arrow keys and shift key. Deselect the selection.
7. Write some text on the button. Open blending options:
   a. Drop shadow (angle-90, distance-5, size-3)
8. Drag the text layer below the above created layer. Open the blending option for the main layer(layer 1)
   a. Bevel and Emboss ( Style- outer bevel, depth-100, size-10, direction - down)
9. Rasterize the layer.

Button Design 2 - Iphone button


1. Create a new document with 500*500 as px dimesions and unlock the background layer.
2. Hold shift and drag out a rounded rectangle tool and position it by using move tool.Rasterize the layer.
3. Select the shape by holding the ctrl key and clicking on the layer.
4. Select the gradient tool and make a dark to light blue gradient and drag the gradient on the canvas.
5. Deselect the selection . Select elliptical marquee tool and draw an ellipse on almost half of the rounded rectangle at the top while holding down alt key.
6. Right click on the selection and select inverse. Select magic wand tool and deselect the empty area by holding alt key.
7. Go to select->modify->feather and feather it by 3 px.
8. Open the gradient editor and make a foreground to transparent gradient and set foreground color to white. Drag the gradient from top to bottom of the selection.
9. Open the blending options of the shape layer :  Drop shadow (blend mode-normal , opacity -90 ,angle-20)
10.Crate a new layer and select shape tool and add white search shape to the button. Merge all the layers together.

Button Design 1 - Glossy Button



1. Create a new document with as 1000 * 300 px dimensions.
2. Unlock the background and open layer styles and select gradient overlay . Open the gradient editor and select dark gray for first stop and little lighter gray for the end stop.
3. Select rounded rectangle tool and draw out a rectangle on the canvas while dragging out the mouse a little outside the canvas.
4. Draw out another rectangle at the bottom keeping same distance at the bottom as is on the top and select subtract from shape option.
5. Open the layer styles window :
   a. Gradient overlay ( light and dark gray for first and end stops resp.)
   b. Inner glow (color -white, size-20)
6. Create a new layer and select text tool and type the text on the canvas. Use move tool to reposition the text .
7. Open layer styles for the text layer :
   a. gradient overlay ( select a dark gray gradient in reverse)
   b. Inner shadow (blend mode -overlay , opacity-75, angle - -58,use global light, distance -5, size-10
   c. Drop shadow (blend mode- overlay ,color -white, angle - -58 ,distance -1, size -1
8. Select the shape layer by holding down ctrl and click on the layer. Create a new layer and select pen tool . Click on top right of the canvas and drag to lower left of the canvas .  Pull out the anchor by dragging it. Create more points outside the canvas and join the two points. Right click inside the canvas and select make selection and select subtract from selection.
9. Open gradient tool and select back to white preset and drag the gradient from top to bottom while holding shift. Change layer mode to screen and opacity to 40. Deselect the selection.
10.Select the brush tool and create a new layer . set white as foreground layer. Select the shape by clicking the shape layer while holding down ctrl key .
11.Drag the brush on the bottom mid of the canvas to create a triangle. change layer mode to overlay and opacity to about 50.
12.Make a copy of the layer and press ctrl t to open the transformation and drag it to the top of the canvas.

       

Space Design 5 - Eclipse



1. Create a  new document with 1280 * 720 px dimensions and fill it with black. Go to filter->noise->add noise and select amount 400% , gaussian and monochromatic. Now go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by 0.3px.
2. Open the levels window and change the black input to 240 and white to 255.
3. Select elliptical marquee tool and drag out a circle in the center of the document . Press ctrl j to cut the selection from the background and copy to its own layer . Create a new layer below the active layer (ellipse layer) .
4. Select the gradient tool and select the linear gradient and select noise samples from the list of gradient presets and select a preset called blues . Uncheck restrict colors and check add transparency . Drag out a gradient from left to right of the screen . Go to filter->distort->polar coordinates and choose rectangular to polar . Hide the black circle by clicking on its eyeball and click on the layer mask icon . Now again open the gradient editor and select black to white gradient and choose radial gradient . Hold shift and drag out a gradient from center to right side of the document . Name the layer as aura .
5. Make the layer mask active and press ctrl I to invert the layer mask and press ctrl J to make a copy . Make the layer mask active of the copy layer and redraw the gradient from center to half way to right and press ctrl I to invert the layer mask . Merge the two layers using ctrl E.
6. Make the black circle visible and click on the layer to make it active . Open outer glow blending option:
    a. Outer glow ( blend mode-overlay , opacity-35 , size-50 )
Press ctrl J to make a copy of this layer.
7. Hold down ctrl key and click on the copy layer thumbnail to make its selection . Click on the foreground color and select a rich blue color ( 2846ff ) and fill the selection with the color using alt-delete. Create a new layer and with the selection still active fill the selection with black . Hover the cursor between the layers and press alt key and click , this will create a clipping mask between the layers . Now we can move the black circle inside the blue circle. Move the black circle down to the left and go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by27px.
8. Make the aura layer active and make a copy of this layer . Hide the copy aura layer and make the original layer active and decrease the opacity to 65%. Make the copy aura layer active and visible and create a layer mask and fill the layer mask with black .
9. Select the brush tool and brush around the edges of the circle to reveal the bright aura under the layer mask

Space Design 4 - Planet Design 2




1. Create a new document with 1280 * 720 as px dimensions and black as background color.
2. Create a new layer and select elliptical marquee tool and drag a circle in the center while holding shift key.
3. Go to select->modify->feather and feather it by 50 px.
4. Select gradient tool and select radio gradient. Open the gradient box and click on the first stop and select white color. Click on the right stop and select dark blue. Click on the slider at 30% location and select light mauve color.
5. Drag the gradient from center to right edge and deselect the selection.
6. Press ctrl T to open the transform tool and drag the sides out on the right and in from above.
7. Make a copy of the layer and hide the original layer. Go to filter->distort->twirl and slide the angle to the right(999).
8. Press ctrl T to open the transform tool and decrease the size using the navigator. Go to edit->transform->perspective and drag the transform point on lower right out.
9. Press ctrl 0 to return to original size and reposition the image using move tool.
10.Make the original layer active and press ctrl j to make its copy. Drag the copy to top and change blend mode to multiply .
11.Reduce the size of the top layer(copy) by using the transform tool.
12.Create a new layer and select elliptical marquee tool and drag a circle in the center. Go to select->modify->feather and feather it by 50px and fill the selection with white. Change the blend mode to soft light and delete the selection.
13.Create a new layer and select elliptical marquee tool and draw the circle in the center and fill it with dark blue color and delete the selection. Open the blending options :
   a. Outer glow(blend mode -color dodge, opacity -100 , size-250,contour-cove deep)
   b. Inner glow(blend mode-color dodge, opacity -55, size-80)
14.create the layer mask and select brush tool with black as foregroud color and brush the bottom of the orb to hide it . Reverse the background-foreground color and brush a small part of the orb. Again reverse the colors and hide the bottom part of the orb.
15.Create a copy of the layer and open outer glow (contour -cone inverted) , satin (angle- -64, distance-23, size-140 , contour-cone)
16.Make all the layers active by holding shift and click on the bottom layer except background layer. Press ctrl T to open the transform tool and tilt the image anti clockwise and reposition the image to centre.
17.Create a new layer on top and fill it with  black. Go to filter->noise->add noise. Amount -100, gaussian and monochromatic . Go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by 0.3 px.
18.Open the level window and change black input to 208 and white to 232. Change blend mode to screen  . Click on the orb layer while holding ctrl key to make selection and then click on the layer mask and press ctrl I to invert the selection.

Space Design 3- Sunburst , Starburst




1. Create a new document with 1000 * 1000 as px dimesions.
2. Unlock the background layer and change the color to black.
3. Press ctrl T to select the transform tool and click on the rulers to drag the guidelines to center.
4. Select elliptical marquee tool and drag out a cirle in the center while holding shift and alt keys.
5. Go to select ->modify->feather and feather it by 50 px.
6. Select gradient tool and select radio gradient. Click on the gradient box and click on the first stop and select a light yellow color. Click on the right stop and select bright red.  click on the center of the slider to create another stop and select orange color.
7. Drag the gradient from center of the circle to the edge and press ctrl D to delete the selection.
8. Go to filter->stylyze->extrude and select pyramids , size 20 px ,depth 175 and random. Press ctrl j to make a copy of the layer.
9. Go to filter->distort->wave and select no of generators as 5, wavelength 32-33 , amplitude 1-2 ,type -sine, repeat edge px.
10.Create a layer mask for the wavy layer and click on the gradient box. Select foreground to background thumbnail and select radio gradient. Drag the gradient to the right while holding shift key . Press ctrl H to hide the guidelines.
11.Increse the canvas size by selecting image-canvas size , change inches to percent and change the width to 175.
12.Create a new layer below the background layer (layer 0)  and fill it with black.
13.Starburst - Hide the wavy layer and select the base layer(layer 0) .
14.Go to adjustment layer and select hue/saturation . Slide the hue to change the color to blue.

Website Layout 1



Space Design 2 - Nebula




1.Create a new documnet with 1280 *720 as px dimensions.
2.Go to filter -> noise -> add noise. Amount is 100% , gaussian and monochromatic.
3.Go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by 0.3 px.
4.Open the levels window and change dark input levels to 200 and light to 232.
5.Click on the new layer button and change the foreground color to bright red.
6.Using the brush tool , brush the color in a random shape on the canvas.
7.Now select a bright yellow color and randomly brush inside areas of the red.
8.Now select white color and brush white inside the yellow area.
9.Go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by about 80 px.
10.Create a new layer and fill it with black.
11.Go to filter->render->clouds and change the blend mode to color dodge.
12.Open the levels window and change input midtones to .40.
13.Create a new layer and select elliptical marquee tool and drag out a circle in the middle of the canvas.
14.Go to select->modify->feather and feather it by 2 px and fill it with black. Deselect it by ctrl-D.
15.Drag the layer below the clouds layer .
16.Open the blending options :
   a. Inner glow (color-yellow , size -30px , blend mode -screen and opacity -75)
   b. Satin (color - bright red , blend mode-normal , opacity -50, distance -19, size -117)
17.Hide the black circle layer and choose hue saturation from adjustment layer and change the color of the clouds to blue shades . Activate the circle layer and change its color to black .

Space Design 1 - Planet Design




1. Create a new document 1000* 1000 with px dimension.
2. Fill the background color with black. Create a new layer. .
3. Select the gradient tool and select noise samples from the preset and select blues preset.
4. Check restrict colors in gradient editor. Drag the gradient on the canvas from top to bottom while holding shift.
5. Go to filter -> distort -> ripple and set the amount to 125%.
6. Go to filter -> distort -> wave . Change no of generators 1, wavelength 401-999, amplitude 1- 198, type sine and check repeat edge pixels.
7. Go to filter-> liquify and use the tools to create turbulance on the surface of the planet .
8. Go to filter-> spherize and change the amount to 100%.
9. Select elliptical marquee tool and drag the cursor from upper left to lower right to create a sphere selection.
10.press ctrl-j to cut the selection and make a copy and place it on its own layer.
11.Trash the surface layer. Widen the canvas by selecting image-> canvas size and change the inches to percent and make width 220 and height 125.
12.Open the blending options of layer 1
   a. outer glow ( color -blue, blend mode-normal, size-73)
   b. inner glow ( color -blue, size -49, opacity-45,blend mode-normal)
13.Create a new layer. Select layer 1 and click ctrl to make a selection.
14.Go to select-> modify->feather. change feather radius to 60px.
15.Press alt-> delete to fill the selection with black.Press ctrl d to delete the selection.
16.Press ctrl t to call the transform tool and press shift and alt and drag out the transform.
17.Reposition it by clicking it aside and moving it.
18.Create a new layer below layer 2.Select layer 3 and click on layer 1 to select both layer and press ctrl e to merge the layers.
19.Press ctrl and click on the planet layer (3) to make a selection and click on layer 2 and press ctrl e to merge the two layers.
20.Press ctrl j to cut the selection and copy on its own layer. Trash layer 3.
21.click on background to make it active.
22.Go to filter -> noise -> add noise and change the amound to 400 and select gaussian and monochromatic.
23.Go to filter-> blur-> gaussian blur and blur it by 1px.
24.Press ctrl l to open levels window and change input shadows to 205 and input highlights to 211.


Orb Design




1. Create a new document with 1000 * 1000 px dimension.
2. Go to filter -> render -> lens flare. select 50-300mm zoom and keep it at its default position and 100% brightness.
3. Again go to filter -> distort -> polar coordinates . check polar to rectangular and reduce the zoom to 25%.
4. Go to edit -> transform -> flip vertical .
5. Go to filter -> distort -> polar coordinates. check rectangular to polar and zoom to 25%.
6. Select the magic wand tool and click anywhere outside the orb to make a selection. press ctrl -shift-I to invert the selection.
7. Press ctrl-j to make a copy of the orb and place it on its own layer.
8. Create a new layer and fill it with black.
9. Go to filter -> render -> lens flare. select 105mm prime.
10.Repeat steps 3-5. Select circular marquee tool and go to upper left corner of the casvas , press shift and drag the cursor to the opposite corner and release.
11.Press ctrl-j to cut the orb and place it on its own layer.
12.Drag layer 1 (copy made by ctrl-j) to top and decrease its opacity to 30%.
13.press ctrl-t to select transform tool and drag a corner in so that the red orb is within the translucent orb.
14.Hide the layers 0,2 and create a new layer below the cut out orbs and fill it with black.
15.Widen the background by selecting image -> canvas size. Change inches to percent in width and change width to 150.
16.Press alt-delete to fill the background with black.

Text Design 6 - Frozen Text




1. Create a new document with 1920 * 1080 and 150 resolution.
2. Fill the background color with black.
3. Select type tool and type the text and use move tool to reposition it.
4. Merge the two layer by pressing ctrl - E.
5. Go to filter -> pixelate -> crystallize. Make the cell size -8.
6. Open channels tab and click on the icon on lower left this will make a selection of values of your image.
7. Go to select -> save selection and name it text.
8. Go to image -> image rotation and select 90 degree CW.
9. Go to filter -> stylize -> wind. Method is wind and direction is from the right.
10.Press ctrl -F twice to lengthen the icicles. Go to image -> image rotation -> 90 degree CCW.
11.Go to filter -> pixelate -> crystalize . Select cell size as 5.
12.Open the channels tab and click on the icon on lower left to make a selection.
13.Create a new layer. Fill the selection with white. Press ctrl - D to get rid of the selection.
14.Hold down ctrl and click on new layer icon . This will make a new layer below the original layer.
15.Fill the empty new layer with black color by holding alt-D
16.Open the blending options of the original layer (layer 1) :
   a. Inner Glow (Blend mode- dissolve, click on the color box and choose an icy blue color, choke -14 ,
       size-10 px )
17.Click on layer 2(new layer) and click on gradient tool and select linear gradient and click on gradient box.
Click on the platinum gradient and then click on he first stop and change the color to dark blue. Click on the right stop and  change the color to black. Click in the center of the layer to make a third stop and change
location to 50. Select a darker blue color.
18.Hold down shift key and drag the gradient from bottom to top.
19.Press ctrl - shift -alt -E to make a composite snapshot of the canvas and click on layer 1.
20.Open channels tab and click on text channel while holding down ctrl to make a selection.
21.Open layers panel and click on layer mask icon and click off the chain link between thw layer and layer mask. This way we can make changes to layer and layer mask independently of the other.
22. Click on the layer and go to filter->blur-?gaussian blur and blur the layer by 1px.
23. Go to filter->pixelate->crystallize and make the cell size 10 px.
24.click on layer mask to make it active and hold down ctrl key to make a selection.
25.click on layer and press ctrl-j to cut the selection from the image and copy it to a new layer(layer 4)
26.Open filter->filter gallery . Open artistic folder and choose plastic wrap. Change Highlight strength to 6 , detail to 1 and smoothness to 4.
27.click on adjustment layer icon and choose hue and saturation . Click on the clipping mask icon. it will make the adjustment layer affect on 1 layer beneath it. Check the colorize box and make hue-199 and saturation-50.

Text Design 4 - Deep Space Text Effect






1. Create a new document with 1920*1080 with 150 resolution .
2. Select the text tool and select a dark blue color and write it on the canvas. Reposition it with move tool.
   Open the blending options:
   a. Inner Shadow ( blend mode-multiply, opacity-40, distance-20, choke-30,size-14)
3. Make a selection of the text layer by holding ctrl key and clicking on the layer. Go to select->modify           ->contract and contract it by 12px.
4. Create a new layer and change the foreground color to light blue and fill the selection with the color(alt-delete). Open the blending mode:
   a. Inner shadow( opacity-100, distance-0, choke-42, size-5)
   b. Drop shadow (distance-0, spread-30, size-10)
5. Hide the background layer and press ctrl-shift-alt-E to make a composite snapshot of the canvas. Make the background visible again.
6. Go to filter->filter gallery and open stylize and glowing edges . Make edge width -2 edge brightness-6, smoothness-5. Change blend mode to overlay and opacity -70. Make a copy of this layer and change blend mode to normal and opacity 100. Go to filter->filter gallery and select sketch->chrome and make detail -7 and smoothness-10 and change blend mode to vivid light.
7. Fill the background layer with black . Go to filter->noise->add noise and make amount 100, gaussian and monochromatic. Go to filter->blur->gaussian blur and blur it by 0.3 px. Open the level window and make input levels to 213 and output levels to 232.
8. Create a new layer and fill it with black. Go to filter->render->lens flare and select 50-300mm zoom and brightness about 141%  and position the lens on the top edge of the screen .
9. Click on adjustment layer icon and select hue/saturation . Check colorize and change hue to 228, saturation-100. Change blend mode of lens flare layer to screen.

Text Design 3 - Glossy Molded Plastic




1. Create a new document with 1920 * 1080 as pixel dimensions with 150 resolution.
2. Change the background to black.
3. Select horizontal type text tool and click on the character text box (font -cooper std black , size -163.01 ,
    color -white).
4. Type the text and use move tool to reposition it.
5. Create a new layer . Hold down ctrl key and click on T of text layer to select the text.
6. Trash the original text layer.
7. Select the gradient tool and select a colored spectrum from the presets. Drag the gradient on the canvas
    while holding down shift key.
8. Deselect the selection .
9. Open the layer style to change the blending options :
   a. Bevel and Emboss ( depth-52 , size-29 , softer-1, angle-130 , altitude-60, Click on gloss contours and
      again click on the dropdown and select large list and contours and click append and then select ring
      triple. Make highlight opacity -100 and shadow mode opacity -0 )
   a1. Contour ( Select shallow slope valley and range - 75)
   b. Inner Glow ( Blend mode-multiply ,opacity -50, size -24)
   c. Drop shadow (Blend mode-multiply, opacity-50, distancr -10, size -5)
10.Hold down cltrl key and click on the text layer to make the selection. Click on select tab -> modify ->
     expand. Expand it by 16 px. Create a new layer and select the gradient tool and drag it across the text
     and delete the selection by ctrl and D.
11.Drag it below the original layer and open its layer style :
   a. Bevel and Emboss (depth-20, size-17, soften-1 , gloss contour-ring triple, highlight opacity-100  
        , shadow opacity-0).
      a1.Contour(contour - rolling slope descending , range-75)
   b. Inner glow(blend mode-linear light , opacity-20, size -18)
   c. Satin (blend mode-linear light, opacity-30, angle-90, distance-4, size-10 , contour -rolling slope
       descending)

Text Design 2 - Platinum Design




1. Create a new document with 1280 *720 as pixel dimensions.
2. Change the background color to black.
3. Type the text and use move tool to reposition it in the center.
4. Open blending options for the text layer :
   a. Stroke ( Gradient - reflected , Gradient color - gray for the end stop)
   b. Bevel and Emboss ( Technique - Chisel hard , depth - 113 , size- 10 , Gloss Contour - Ring double ,
      click on anti-aliased checkbox)
5. Hold ctrl and click on t of the text layer to select it.
6. Create a new layer and fill it with white by clicking on the text . Deselect the layer.
7. Click on filter -> blur -> gaussian blur to create a glow effect.
8. Change the radius to create an appropriate glow around the text.
9. Select the background layer and select gray and black color from the color pallette for foreground and  
    background color resp.
10.Select the gradient tool and drag it on the canvas.
11.Open the blending options for the text layer :
   c. Drop Shadow (Distance - 13 , size -16)
12.Create a new layer and double click on the background layer to unlock it.
13. Select the new layer and select the brush tool and select no. 70 brush.
14. Change the foreground color to white and click the brush on edges of the text.

Text Design 1 - Glossy Text




1. Create a new background with 500 * 200 as pixel dimensions .
2. Double click the layer to unlock it and change the background color to black .
3. Select the text tool and type a text on the canvas. Use move tool to reposition it on the center.
4. Select the blending options -
   a. Gradient Overlay ( Click on the gradient to open the gradient editor and click on the slider to create 2  
       more color stops on the slider . click on the 1st stop and select a light gray color . Click on the second
       stop and select light cyan color. Click on the third stop and choose a little dark cyan . Click on the 4th
       stop and select a light gray color).
   b. Stroke ( Change the color to light gray , size -2).
   c. Inner Shadow ( Opacity - 40 , distance - 2 , size - 3)
   d. Inner Glow ( Opacity - 51 , color - white , size - 7)
5. Create a new layer and select elliptical marquee too and drag it on half of the text . Select paint bucket
    and click on inside the ellipse and deselect the selection.
6. Hold down ctrl key and click on T on the text layer . Click on layer tab -> layermask -> reveal selection
7. Lower the opacity to 42% . Use the move tool to move the text to create a shadow like effect .

Logo Design 4 - Facebook Logo



1. Create a new background with 500*500 as pixel dimension and change the background color to white.
2. Create a new layer and select rounded rectangle tool and change radius to 60 px , hold down shift draw it on the canvas. Use move tool to reposition it on the center .
3. Change foreground color to black and rasterize to layer .
4. Select magic wand tool and click on the canvas to select the rounded rectangle shape drawn on canvas.
5. Select the gradient tool and select radio gradient and select a blue color (facebook blue color) from gradient presets and drag the gradient on the canvas .
6. Select elliptical marquee tool and hold down alt key and drag the square walls inward to reduce the size and deselect the magic wand tool.
7. Draw an ellipse over the canvas covering half of the canvas .
8. Create a new layer change the color to white and hold alt and backspace key , reduce the opacity to 15% to change the blue color to a lighter shade as compared to the rest of the logo.
9. Deselect the ellipse from the canvas.
10.Create a new layer and select rounded rectangle tool and change the radius to 15px. Draw the shape at the bottom of the canvas and use move tool to reposition it. Lower the opacity to 25% .
11.Create  a new layer and select horizontal type text . Drag the text tool over the canvas and change the size , font and type accordingly.
12.Type the text and use move tool to reposition it on the layer. Hold ctrl and t to resize the selected layer and click on the checkmark on the top.

Logo Design 3 - Glossy Logo 2



1. Create a new document with 400*400 as pixel dimensions.
2. Select paint bucket tool from the tool menu and select black color as the foreground color . Click on the background so that the color of the background changes to black.
3. Now select gray color as the new foreground color and click on the gradient tool. Select radio gradient and then drag the gradient from the center of the canvas to outside the edges to configure the gradient.
4.Select ellipse tool from the tool menu and select red color from the color palette and draw a circle on the canvas . Use the move tool to re-position it in the center. Rasterize it selecting the rasterize option
5. Right click on the ellipse layer to select blending modes:-
   a. Stroke( size -8 , position - inside , fill type - gradient , fill color - bright red , click reverse check box    
       next to the gradient , Style - reflected , angle -90 , scale - 150% ).
   b. Gradient overlay( Blend mode - soft light , click on reverse check box , style - reflected , scale - 150).
   c. Bevel and Emboss( style - pillow emboss, technical - smooth, depth -1000% ,direction - up, size -5 ,
      soften -1 , Gloss contour - ring , highlight mode - screen ,opacity - 50 , shadow mode opacity - 100)
      c1. Contour - elements (contour - Gaussian ) .
   d. Inner Shadow ( distance - 0 , choke - 20 , size - 30 , contour - half round).
   e. Drop Shadow ( distance- 0 , spread - 35 , size - 35 ) .
6. Select the text tool with foreground color black and type the text and position it in center of the logo.
7. Copy the layer styles of the ellipse layer to the text layer and make few changes like changing Stroke          
    ( size -4 ) and remove gradient overlay.
8. Create a mask to text layer by holding down alt and clicking in between the text and ellipse layer. It will
     result in making the text layer lighter.
9. Create a new layer and create a mask by holding alt and click between the two layers.
10. Select elliptical marquee tool and drag a circle to half of the logo starting from bottom left and select
     inverse option from the Select tab on the top.
11. Change the gradient to linear and foreground color to white.
12. Drag the gradient on the logo while holding down shift key.
13. Change blend mode of the layer to overlay .
14. You can also change hue of the logo by selecting hue and saturation layer from the adjustments.

Logo Design 1 - Basic Logo



This is a basic logo designed by me on 11/19/2012.

Overview of steps performed to create this logo -

1. Create a new document with a large background and then select background gradients by selecting the gradient tool. Then select color stops for the start and end  of the gradient (dark gray and light gray resp.).
2. Drag the gradient by holding down shift key and drag the mouse from bottom to top.
3. Now select an ellipse tool.
4. Hold Ctrl-r to select ruler . Now click on the ruler and drag it in center of the canvas to set the guides.
5. Start ellipse from center of canvas and hold down shift and alt key and drag ellipse till the edges and release the click.
6. Select fill box to change the color to dark gray.
7. Duplicate the above created layer and select subtract front shape from first drop down icon on the top.
8. Make another ellipse (a little smaller then the previous) and select fill box option and choose another light gray color.
9. Repeat the above step to create another ellipse within the above created ellipses.
10. Double click layer to open layer styles and select inner shadow (Blend- normal , Opacity- 100% , Distance- 5 , Size- 5) , gradient overlay(change gray gradient by selecting gray and light gray from first and second stop) , drop shadow( change size to 20).
11. Copy and paste layer style to original layer by right clicking and selecting copy paste option.
12. Select shape layer and change color by selecting any color (blue).
13. Enter the text by selecting horizontal type mask tool . You can change the size by clicking on T of text tool on top and dragging the mouse .
14. Hold Ctrl key to move the  text in the circle to re-position and re-size it.
15. Click on top shape layer to hide the selection . Hold down alt key and click on add layer mask button at bottom to hide the text. Click on the chain lock created  to unlock the layer and select layer mask and move tool to re-position the text by clicking and dragging it.
16. Hold alt  and Ctrl on colored shape background to make selection for adding highlights.
17. Create a new layer and move it above the colored shape layer .
18. Select the brush tool and hold alt and right click to make a circle half the size of the ellipse shape and select white as foreground color . Duplicate the overlay to make it more visible or reduce the opacity to make it less visible.
19. Create a new layer at top of the list .
20. Select the blue shape color layer by holding Ctrl key . Choose marquee tool and hold alt key to get rid of half of the selection made in step 17 .
21. Drag the mouse from bottom of the background layer to half of the circle and select white as foreground color.
22. Hold alt and backspace keys to configure the selection to the layer. Change layer mode to screen and change the opacity to 100% .
