This is a basic logo designed by me on 11/19/2012.
Overview of steps performed to create this logo -
1. Create a new document with a large background and then select background gradients by selecting the gradient tool. Then select color stops for the start and end of the gradient (dark gray and light gray resp.).
3. Now select an ellipse tool.
4. Hold Ctrl-r to select ruler . Now click on the ruler and drag it in center of the canvas to set the guides.
5. Start ellipse from center of canvas and hold down shift and alt key and drag ellipse till the edges and release the click.
6. Select fill box to change the color to dark gray.
7. Duplicate the above created layer and select subtract front shape from first drop down icon on the top.
8. Make another ellipse (a little smaller then the previous) and select fill box option and choose another light gray color.
9. Repeat the above step to create another ellipse within the above created ellipses.
10. Double click layer to open layer styles and select inner shadow (Blend- normal , Opacity- 100% , Distance- 5 , Size- 5) , gradient overlay(change gray gradient by selecting gray and light gray from first and second stop) , drop shadow( change size to 20).
11. Copy and paste layer style to original layer by right clicking and selecting copy paste option.
12. Select shape layer and change color by selecting any color (blue).
13. Enter the text by selecting horizontal type mask tool . You can change the size by clicking on T of text tool on top and dragging the mouse .
14. Hold Ctrl key to move the text in the circle to re-position and re-size it.
15. Click on top shape layer to hide the selection . Hold down alt key and click on add layer mask button at bottom to hide the text. Click on the chain lock created to unlock the layer and select layer mask and move tool to re-position the text by clicking and dragging it.
16. Hold alt and Ctrl on colored shape background to make selection for adding highlights.
17. Create a new layer and move it above the colored shape layer .
18. Select the brush tool and hold alt and right click to make a circle half the size of the ellipse shape and select white as foreground color . Duplicate the overlay to make it more visible or reduce the opacity to make it less visible.
19. Create a new layer at top of the list .
20. Select the blue shape color layer by holding Ctrl key . Choose marquee tool and hold alt key to get rid of half of the selection made in step 17 .
21. Drag the mouse from bottom of the background layer to half of the circle and select white as foreground color.
22. Hold alt and backspace keys to configure the selection to the layer. Change layer mode to screen and change the opacity to 100% .
